In the beginning
My life as a graphic designer began back in 2003 when I worked for a large global corporation called Tyco. From there, I started my own studio in 2005, called Blue Dot Design. Over the next eight years, I was fortunate enough to work with some amazing brands and organisations—including Amnesty International and UNSW—and I ended up hiring another designer to help with the workload. The studio eventually became Blue Dot Creative as we took on more strategic work in the form of creative and art direction. After the arrival of my son Edward in 2013, I decided it was time to take a break from corporate design work and to focus on both the raising of our four young boys and the daily documentation of our family life.
A new venture
With my love for white space and clean typography, I began creating family albums, photo books, and story books that reflected my minimalist aesthetic. When I started sharing these memory-keeping projects online, one thing quickly led to another and, eventually, LIFE:CAPTURED was born. As a result, the business has been my singular graphic design “client” for the last few years.
A new chapter
However, there is a time for everything under the sun and, as of May this year, our youngest boy has started preschool. This marks the end of a very precious season of life for me. While the thought of this tugs at my heartstrings (in a very big way), I am also excited at the prospect of a new chapter: for the first time in ten years, I have uninterrupted hours in the week to work. And so, from mid-2019 onwards, I will start taking on design clients once more.
Custom photo book design
Even before I became a graphic designer, I was first a memory keeper and a storyteller. Combining words and images to create a tangible, timeless keepsake—what could be more beautiful and meaningful? If you would like to create something special for your family, or if you would like to commission something beautiful and unique for your parents or grandparents as a birthday or anniversary gift, I would love to help. Design solutions for creative businesses
As an offshoot from LIFE:CAPTURED, we launched a sister business called SOULT Journals two years ago. Even though we have since decided to cease production of the journals, I am rather proud of the brand that we created. If you are a creative entrepreneur and would like help with your branding and marketing communications, feel free to get in touch. In addition to logos, business stationery, websites, e-newsletters, and graphics for social media, I can also assist with event collateral, product design, and packaging design. Examples of my past commercial design work are available upon request.
Due to ongoing family and ministry commitments, I will only be able to accept a limited number of design bookings every year. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please register your interest below.
